Training Autism

Post 16 Workforce Autism Training

This training opportunity is open to all staff within schools 6th forms, FE Colleges, training providers, agencies and employers who work with and support Post 16 young people.

The programme will deliver the AET suite of Post 16 training modules in each of the 3 identified localities.

The programme draws on the National autism standards and competency framework to increase skills, knowledge and understanding, building capacity across the Post 16 workforce.

The programme will also enable and encourage multi-agency networking opportunities.

AET Modules

  • Raising Awareness - 90 Mins
  • For Practitioners - 1 Day
  • For Managers - 1 Day
  • Transition from School to College - 2.5 hours
  • Progression Framework - 2 hours

Early Years AET Training

Tier 1 - Making sense of Autism

Raising awareness of staff in all early years settings.

Audience: All staff employed by a setting

Duration: Twilight 1.5hrs

Tier 2 – Good Autism Practice

To support all practitioners working directly with students on the autism spectrum.

Audience: All practitioners working directly with students (teachers, support staff)

Duration: 2 days

Tier 3 – Leading Good Practice

Leading all staff in understanding autism and creating an outstanding autism setting.

Audience: Leaders and managers (SENCOs, inclusion managers, senior leaders)

Duration: 1 day

Devon Schools' Training

Tier 1 - Making sense of Autism

Raising awareness of C&I needs for all school based staff

Audience: All staff employed by a setting

Duration: Twilight 1.5hrs

Tier 2 – Good Autism Practice

Practical strategies to support inclusion for all practitioners working directly with students who have C&I differences

Audience: All practitioners working directly with students, C&I School Based practitioner (teachers, support staff)

Duration: 2 days

Tier 3 – Leading Good Practice

Leading effective and inclusive provision for students with C&I differences

Audience: Leaders and managers, Strategic Lead for C&I (SENCOs, Inclusion managers, senior leaders)

Duration: 1 day

Post-16 AET Training

Tier 1 - Making sense of Autism

Basic Autism awareness training for all staff involved in post 16 setting

Audience: Includes office staff, caters, caretakers, transport staff, governors etc.

Duration: Twilight 1.5hrs

Tier 2 – Good Autism Practice

Practical approaches to developing reaching, learning and support strategies

Audience: Including tutors, learning support practitioners, assessors, trainers and job coaches

Duration: 2 days

Tier 3 – Leading Good Practice

For all staff who may take a leadership role, that includes responsibility for developing provision

Audience: nclusion and/or curriculum managers, lead practitioners for autism 

Duration: 1 day
