Alternative Provision 14-16
Further Education (FE) Colleges are able to claim funding through the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) for 14 and 15 year old home educated learners who wish to attend college on a part time basis. As the provision is part time, learners remain registered as home educated and parents are responsible for the following areas:
- Arranging and funding transport to and from college
- Ensuring regular attendance by the young person
- Funding or providing books, equipment or other materials required by the course
- Assuring themselves of safeguarding arrangements and duty of care during course attendance
In Devon, a number of the FE Colleges offer part time alternative provision, designed to supplement what is already being provided at home. Further details can be found below:

Petroc
From September 2020 Petroc will only be accepting home educated learners who are 15 before 31st August 2020.
Learners who are entering year 11 and have home education status will be eligible to apply for Petroc's Vocational programme or for GCSE English and Maths.

South Devon College
Home educated young people aged 14-16 can access up to 3 days' worth of free provision weekly, over 35 weeks of the academic year.
