Meet the GDPR and Data Protection Team

Amber Badley

Amber is the Founder and Director of Firebird, an independent company that specialises in supporting schools and other organisations in the education sector, manage their compliance with the data protection legislation (EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR)  and the UK Data Protection Act 2018), by providing advice, training, audits, guidance and outsourced Data Protection Officer services.

Amber holds a Masters Degree in Information Rights Law and Practice and has 19 years experience advising and supporting public sector organisations with their data protection compliance, including the Police Service, Local Government, schools and other education establishments.

Amber has extensive experience of managing data protection security breaches and complaints following Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information Act Requests. This has included supporting organisations through complex cases which have been escalated to the Information Commissioner’s Office and attending Information Tribunal court hearings as a witness, for the organisations being represented.

Amber acts as the formal Data Protection Officer for a number of schools across the Southof England, which includes independent schools, academies, primary schools, colleges, special schools and voluntary aided schools.

Amber has recently been invited by the Department for Education (DfE), to join their panel of data protection experts to create a series of resources, guides and templates, to support schools in their journey towards compliance with the data protection legislation. Amber is passionate about her work; always striving to break down unnecessary data protection barriers and supports schools and organisations by providing practical advice and solutions when complex or delicate situations arise.

Amber regularly presents at conferences and masterclasses in the South of England and holds an up to date Enhanced DBS certificate.


Annette Henry

Annette Henry is our EU General Data Protection Regulation Practitioner and Technical Services Co-ordinator and has worked in Babcock LDP since 2011. As well as continuing to provide support to schools in the role of Data Protection Officer, Annette also provides technical support, advice and guidance to Babcock LDP. 

Annette works with schools in the South West to help them review and check their GDPR compliance and provide them with action plans to help them achieve compliance.  She provides schools with an expert point of contact for help and advice when needed and conducts termly DPO networking forums for schools in the South West.

She has also worked with myAko developing e-learning training to support schools by providing GDPR whole school staff awareness training which is available nationwide.  The training is specific to the education sector, is available in 10 minute learning bites and is available on desktop, mobile and tablet.

Annette also provides face-to-face training sessions, presents at conferences and masterclasses in the South West and holds an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate.
