Literacy Masterclass with James Clements

Using Great Books to Create Confident, Competent Readers

Literacy Masterclass with James Clements

Wednesday 27th March 2019 | Mercure Southgate Hotel, Exeter | 09:30 - 12:15

There are few things more important than learning to read. If children leave primary school without mastering this vital skill, it is very hard for them to go on to do all the things they might wish to do in later life. However learning to read is only half the story: if children can read, but they never choose to read, then they miss all of the educational benefits, that being a reader brings, not to mention a lifetime of enjoyment.

This masterclass will explore how these two elements of being a reader can work together.

Key Reasons to Attend:

  • Draw on research to gain practical approaches for building an authentic reading culture in schools
  • Raise standards in reading within your setting
  • Hear from our nationally renowned keynote speaker
  • Share best practice with colleagues from across the South West

Who Should Attend?

All Phases: Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers, Teachers, Senior Leaders, Subject Leaders, Literacy Coordinators, NQT's TA's, Librarians

Inspirational, very informative, rooted in research and full of practical ideas. I love reading but this masterclass redirected this passion towards educating readers rather than chasing statistics. Fabulous
