Online Safety Masterclass

Online Safety Masterclass

Thursday 25 February 2021 | Sandy Park, Exeter | 12:30 - 16:15

An interactive, engaging and enlightening session providing opportunities for delegates to gain a practical insight to understanding and navigating the digital world.  Delegates will have time to explore and discuss the current threats and vulnerabilities that exist online for everyone.  They will challenge and reflect upon their own online behaviours and explore practical strategies that can be used immediately to keep themselves and others safer online.   Other key aspects include training content based around legal safeguarding requirements in schools.  The session will conclude with delegates developing their own strategies to be shared and implemented with staff in their own individual learning communities.

Key reasons to Attend:

  • 64% of teachers do not feel confident teaching online safety. Walk away understanding complicated subjects such as online gaming
  • This event will challenge what you know and how you teach online safety in your school
  • Do you and your staff really understand the terminology being used by young people?
  • This masterclass will give you the understanding of areas such as social media and online gaming

About Stella James, CEO, Gooseberry Planet

Stella James is a mother of two children and CEO/Head Gooseberry of Gooseberry Planet – an awardwinning interactive education platform developed to educate children, teachers and parents about the risks of the internet such as online bullying, sexual grooming and exploitation.

Online safeguarding is a significant and very current topic in education. With more than half of children using social media before the age of the 10, it’s vital that they’re taught how to use the internet responsibly and are aware of the dangers found online.

Stella is passionate about broadening conversations about digital wellbeing and protecting children online and regularly delivers keynote speeches, presentations & workshops about these topics, including at events such as NAACE, NAPE, IAPS, COBIS, NABSS, ECIS, BSA, AOBSOS, NAHT and ISAB.

Very good presentation, refreshing to hear a ‘positive spin’ with emphasis on educating children (parents too!) and building resilience. The presentation time went very quickly, lots of up to date information

Her talks offer an informed and thought-provoking insight into the issues surrounding online safety, digital wellbeing, and safeguarding, discussing how schools can meet statutory requirements and deliver engaging and regular discourses around online safety for pupils.

Visitors to Stella’s talks always leave the session feeling inspired and with a far greater understanding of online s and how we can protect children against them.

“A very interesting and thought-provoking session – feel I learned a lot from this!” and another, “Fantastic! I came away extremely impressed and energised by her Stella’s presentation.”
